Why do we only use pre-loved books in our blind date boxes?
Eco-friendly
Choosing second-hand books was an environmentally conscious decision. When you buy used books, you are reducing the demand for new ones, which means fewer resources are being used for production. Additionally, buying used books reduces the amount of waste and pollution in the environment. It’s a small but impactful step towards sustainability. By using second hand books it also saves them from going to landfill.
We wanted to be a sustainable brand with everything included in our boxes either recyclable or reusable.
Unique
Second-hand books can add character and uniqueness to your home. It’s an opportunity to showcase your personality and interests. We select books that have been highly rated on Goodreads and Waterstones. All our books have been checked for quality before being distrubted to our customers.
Supports local businesses
When we buy second-hand books from local bookstores or online marketplaces, we are also supporting small businesses. It’s an excellent way to give back to our community and contribute to its economic growth. If You are looking for rare or out-of-print books then you may find them here.
We buy our second-hand books from a local company who specialises in this area but we also regularly buy them in Charity shops as well. We have spent well over £1000 in charity shops in the short amount of time we have been established.
I am aware authors also need to make a living as well. I have also spent a small fortune in Waterstones as well. I’m aware they aren’t second-hand books but the majority of the books I buy there feed into the business once I have read them.
