What is a blind date with a pre-loved book?
A blind date with a book is a mystery book wrapped in brown paper, with clues to what is hidden inside written on the front. All of our books have been read before but are in good-very good condition and have been checked over by ourselves before being sent to you. Our aim is to stop books from going to landfill where they are difficult to recycle due to the glue in their binding. There maybe some damage to the books spines, marks on them or other general wear and tear from where they have previously been read lovingly.
I have triggers and would like a book without these?
On checkout please enter your triggers into the other notes box on checkout and we will do our best to select a book for you which does not contain your triggers. Any information you provide will be kept in the utmost confidence and not shared with anyone. If you receive a book that for any reason causes upset then please contact us and we will be happy to exchange/refund it for you.
Will the book be any good?
All of our books have either been read by ourselves, are highly recommended by Waterstones, or have a rating of 3.5+ on Goodreads
Who are your books suitable for?
The majority of our books are suitable for a 18+ audience due to the potential for themes of this nature to be discussed in the book. Our Young Adult and Children’s books are suitable for a younger audience. You are welcome to order any mystery book for a person younger than 18 but we ask that you use your discretion and if there is anything you do not wish for the book to contain then please enter this in the other notes box on checkout.
How eco-friendly is your product?
We have spent a lot of time researching the environmental impact of everything that goes into our product. Our books have all been read before and if they were to end up in landfill would be difficult to recycle due to the glue in the binding. All of our packaging can be recycled or used again and is made from recycled materials. After a lot of research we choose Royal Mail as our delivery company as they have the lowest carbon emissions per parcel in the UK. Our website and email hosting hosting is powered by 100% renewable energy.
How sustainable are the drinks and biscuits?

After a long search we found biscuits with recyclable packaging. I’m afraid it can’t be recycled at home, however, the biscuit wrapper can be recycled with bags at large supermarkets. https://border.co.uk/sustainability/

How long will delivery take?
UK Royal Mail Tracked 24 hours usually takes 1 day to reach you. Our free shipping should take 2-3 days to reach you. Due to strikes or busy periods there may be a delay.
If there are several days of Royal Mail strikes back to back we will use an alternative carrier with similar green credentials to Royal Mail.

We currently only ship to the UK and Channel Islands

Can the Halloween sweet wrappers be recycled?
They can be recycled with bags at large supermarkets such as Sainsburys and Tesco’s. We spent a long time looking at the best option for sweets and disappointingly there are not much packaging that can be recycled in that world.
